Who thinks that working out every day and eating healthy may seem daunting and unachievable? A lot of us! But there are some sure enough ways to manage through the sweat and block out the constant chocolate cravings that creep up on you like a bad smell. Gather up a bunch of your besties and try these three simple steps towards a better you!
STEP ONE: DON’T SHOW ME THE MONEY
Keep those dollars in the piggy bank and plan your exercises in your backyard, oval or around your neighbourhood. Parks and ovals are a great way to find space to do whatever is it (cardio, push ups, squats) whilst enjoying the outdoor air (and checking out for hotties). A small investment would be buying a set of multipurpose resistance rubber bands and dumbbells to help you tone up by using your own body weight to give your muscles some strength.
STEP TWO: KEEP IT SIMPLE FOLKS
We all want to look like Jessica Alba, but let’s not kid ourselves. She works her BUTT off to get the figure she does, and we’re just starting up. So before you start dreaming of a perfectly toned sunkist tummy, let’s start off at the beginning. Ease your way into living healthier and soon enough you will see results. “How do I start off?” you ask. Make a time and set a location that is reasonable and realistic for all of your besties to work with ie. Don’t set a workout time at 5am if you all wake up normally at 9am.
STEP THREE: GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN
If you all enjoy watching certain TV shows (Game of Thrones), then get together and make it an opportunity to bring along or make healthy snacks. It’s relatively easy to make dips and use carrot sticks instead of crackers, or pop your own popcorn instead of using the store-bought microwave triple-butter variety. You could even make a game out of it and compete with each other for who brought the healthiest and tastiest dish, and the winner could get a prize (free mani please)!
The key is to think realistically and start at your own pace. Don’t try level 10 if you haven’t given level 3 a go. Having a motivational circle of friends is also really important, especially if you all want to live healthier. Give these steps a go; you’ve got nothing to lose (except some extra kilos)!
